Personalize Klaviyo flows with Shopify product metafields

Send Shopify data to Klaviyo with Littledata's server-side tracking.

An abandoned cart email that says "you left something behind" converts worse than one that speaks to what the product is for. The data to do that usually already exists as product metafields in your Shopify catalog: skin type for beauty, dietary preference for food, size and style for apparel. Product attributes also work as a proxy for customer preferences. You don't need a survey to know a customer cares about sensitive skin; the products they browse tell you. This recipe puts that signal on every event Klaviyo receives.

  1. Shopify logo

A product-enriched Viewed Product and Added to Cart event

Using Littledata's Event Editor, you can attach product metafield values to the Viewed Product and Added to Cart events sent server-side to Klaviyo at the moment they fire.

  2. Klaviyo logo

A Klaviyo flow that branches on product attributes

Split your browse abandonment or abandoned cart flow on the product attribute in the event payload. A shopper who viewed a fragrance-free moisturizer gets a message that speaks to sensitive skin. A shopper who added a gluten-free protein bar gets a message about their dietary preference. No survey required.

The Shopify data you can target

Product metafields are custom fields you define in the Shopify admin, holding attributes like skin type, material, dietary preference, or fragrance. Klaviyo doesn't surface it on events natively; getting it there typically means custom code. Here are examples of the metafields Littledata can attach to events:
