What personal data we collect and why
This section sets out the personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the lawful basis on which we process it.
When you sign up to our services
We will collect your name, email address, phone number, address, company name and address (if applicable) and your payment details. We collect this in order to take steps to enter into a contract with you and allow you to purchase services on our website.
When you contact us
When you contact us either by phone or email, or via social media, we will usually collect your name, social media handle and contact details, because it's in our legitimate interest to make sure we can properly respond to your query.
To send you marketing information
Where you have previously expressed an interest in our products or services we may use your name and email to promote new products and services to you (only from Littledata). You can opt out of these emails. You can opt-out or withdraw your consent to marketing at any time by emailing us at help@littledata.io or, where relevant, by following the unsubscribe link in any marketing communication you receive from us.
We do this because it is in our legitimate interests to promote our other products and services we think you might be interested in.
Where you are a new customer and have opted in via our website to receive our newsletter, we will process your personal data to provide you these updates in line with the preferences you have provided and will only use your personal data in this way with your consent.
Google login
By connecting your Google account you are granting us access to:
- Your name and profile image
- Your email address
We may then ask for additional Google account permissions to:
- Read and write to Google Analytics properties linked to your account
- Read and write to Google Ads properties linked to your account.
We will collect this information to be able to fulfil our contractual obligations.
Littledata's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Analytics
Littledata pulls a range of data from your business's Google Analytics account. We use this data to:
(a) Provide data exports of your website performance, and accessible only via your Google account or (with explicit permission from you) to other members your invite to your Littledata account.
(b) Test new analytic methods and visualisations for our internal use. Your data will only be accessible by Littledata's UK or European Union based employees and contractors, bound by a non-disclosure agreement
(c) Provide anonymised benchmarks to other customers. We promise this will never be identifiable to you or your website, and will only be used in aggregate segments of at least 10 benchmark companies – so that your performance cannot be inferred from the benchmark
Sending personal data about your end users to Google Analytics (for example, customer email addresses) is in breach of Google's terms as well as our Terms. We will ensure that your personal data is anonymised before sending it anywhere.
Secure data transfer and storage
When Littledata requests or sends your data to web services you opt into, or to display data in your browser, this is done via a secure (SSL) web connection. Any of your data that we store to provide your services is encrypted at rest in a database hosted on Google or AWS servers in North Virginia, USA (with the highest security precautions), and accessible only via our web servers (for your consumption) and a select number of Littledata employees and contractors.
Whenever we transfer your personal data outside of the UK and the EU, we ensure it receives additional protection as required by law. To keep this policy as short and easy to understand as possible, we haven't set out the specific circumstances when each of these protection measures are used. Who do you share my data with?
- Business partners, suppliers and subcontractors for the performance of the contract we enter into with them or you.
- Regulators / Authorities / Enforcement Agencies if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect our, our customers' and others' rights. This includes exchanging your personal data with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection.
- Prospective buyers of our business under our legitimate interest to ensure our business can be continued by the buyer.
How long do you keep my data for?
We will only retain your personal data for as long as we need it unless we are required to keep it for longer to comply with our legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.
In some circumstances we may carefully anonymise your personal data so that it can no longer be associated with you, and we may use this anonymised information indefinitely without notifying you. We use this anonymised information to improve the way we work and our services.
Your rights regarding your personal data
The UK's General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data protection laws provide certain rights for data subjects.
You are entitled to request details of the information we hold about you and how we process it. You may also have a right in accordance with applicable data protection law to have it rectified or deleted, to restrict our processing of that information, to stop unauthorised transfers of your personal data to a third party and, in some circumstances, to have personal data relating to you transferred to another organisation.
If you object to the processing of your personal data, or if you have provided your consent to processing and you later choose to withdraw it, we will respect that choice in accordance with our legal obligations and good practices.
Your objection (or withdrawal of any previously given consent) could mean that you are not able to make use of the services and products offered by us. Please note that even after you have chosen to withdraw your consent, we may be able to continue to process your personal data to the extent required or otherwise permitted by law, in particular, in connection with exercising and defending our legal rights or meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with us or the Information Commissioner's Office, the supervisory authority for data protection issues in England and Wales. If you are based in the EU you can find your relevant supervisory authority here.
