Accurate marketing data with Recharge
Track first-time, recurring, and prepaid Recharge orders in GA4, Meta, and Google Ads, attributed to the campaign that won the subscriber

The direct answer
What does the Littledata Recharge integration do?
Littledata labels every Recharge order as a one-time, first-time subscription, recurring, or prepaid order, and sends it server-side to Google Analytics 4, Meta, Google Ads, and Segment. Each recurring order is tied back to the marketing source of the subscriber's first order, so you can see which channels bring in your most valuable subscribers.
- Order types split out - one-off purchases, first subscription orders, recurring orders, and prepaid orders each carry their own affiliation.
- Subscription lifecycle events - Subscription Created, Updated, Skipped, Cancelled, and Charge Failed, tied to the original web session.
- Ad platforms trained on new subscribers - send first subscription orders as their own conversion, and keep renewals out of ad conversions.
- LTV by channel - custom dimensions for lifetime revenue and purchase count, including recurring orders.

The problem
Why subscription revenue goes missing in your marketing tools
A recurring order doesn't need the customer to come back to your website. Recharge creates it on schedule, so there is no browser session and no tag to fire.
- Unattributed renewals - recurring orders arrive with no campaign attached, so GA4 reports them as (not set) or Direct instead of under the channel that won the subscriber.
- Inflated ROAS - when renewals count as ad conversions, Meta and Google Ads take credit for orders your campaigns didn't drive, and their bidding learns from customers you already have.
- No link to churn - cancellations and failed payments happen in Recharge, disconnected from the campaign that brought the customer in.
As a result, you can't compare channels on subscriber lifetime value, only on first orders.
How Littledata labels Recharge orders
Every order carries an affiliation you can use in GA4 reports, segments, and audiences.
| Order type | Affiliation in GA4 | What you can do with it |
|---|---|---|
| One-time order | Shopify | Compare one-off buyers with subscribers |
| First-time subscription | Subscription, Subscription First Order | See which campaigns acquire new subscribers |
| Recurring order | Subscription, Subscription Recurring Order | Credit renewal revenue to the channel that won the subscriber |
| Prepaid recurring order | Prepaid, Subscription, Subscription Recurring Order | Separate 6- or 12-month prepaid plans from pay-as-you-go |
How does Littledata connect Recharge to Meta Ads?
Littledata's Meta Conversions API connection keeps recurring orders out of the default Purchase event, so Meta only counts orders your ads could influence.
- First Recurring Purchase - Littledata - add this Event Editor recipe to fire a conversion only on a customer's first subscription order, then register it as a custom conversion to optimize campaigns for new subscribers.
- Recurring Purchase - an optional recipe that sends renewals as a separate event, for retargeting or lookalike audiences built from subscribers.
- Lifetime value on every purchase - each Purchase and Recurring Purchase event carries a
predicted_ltvparameter pulled from Shopify.

Recurring revenue in GA4, Google Ads, and Segment
The same Recharge data reaches every destination you connect, so each platform works from the same order types.
- Google Analytics 4 - orders, refunds, affiliation, and lifecycle events, with recurring orders attributed to the first order's source.
- Google Ads - Purchase - Littledata and New Customer Purchase - Littledata conversion actions. Use the Event Editor to exclude renewals so Smart Bidding optimizes for new customers.
- Segment - subscription events with subscription ID, status, order interval, and value, ready for destinations like Iterable to trigger messages when a subscription changes.
Which Recharge lifecycle events does Littledata track?
Tracked by default, sent to Google Analytics and Segment, and tied back to the customer's original web session.
| Recharge event | GA4 event name |
|---|---|
| Subscription Created | subscription_created |
| Subscription Updated | subscription_updated |
| Subscription Skipped | subscription_skipped |
| Subscription Cancelled | subscription_cancelled |
| Subscription Charge Failed | subscription_charge_failed |
Smarter retention marketing with Klaviyo
Littledata's Klaviyo integration sends server-side Viewed Product, Added to Cart, and Checkout Started events, so retention flows reach shoppers Klaviyo's own tracking misses.
- Subscription status on events - when subscription status is stored as Shopify customer tags, the Event Editor can attach it to browse and cart events, so active and lapsed subscribers get different flows.
- Personalized by product - flows reference the product the shopper actually viewed or added.
How do I set up Littledata with Recharge?
Install Littledata
Add the Littledata app from the Shopify App Store and connect your destinations, such as GA4, Meta, and Google Ads. No code or Google Tag Manager needed.
Connect Recharge
In Recharge Admin, open Marketplace, search for Littledata, and click Get. Or open the Recharge source in the Littledata dashboard and authorize Recharge.
Add the Affiliation dimension
Create an event-scoped custom dimension for affiliation in GA4, so you can split reports by order type.
Verify subscription orders
Check GA4's Realtime report once recurring orders come in. Subscription conversions and lifecycle events appear alongside your other events.
Subscriptions started before you installed? Littledata tracks data from install onward and never changes historic data. For older subscriptions, add a source/medium rule such as recharge / recurring under Session enrichment, so their renewals aren't reported as (not set). See the Recharge setup guide
