Facebook & Instagram App is Shopify's free, native Meta connector — simple and codeless, but limited to Meta only. It lacks server-side tracking, identity resolution, and has no mechanism to capture events the browser misses.
Elevar offers server-side tracking via Google Tag Manager with strong identity resolution and multi-channel support. However, GTM still relies on browser-side tags as the foundation, meaning it can't fully capture server-originated events. Post-acquisition by Audiense, it's now bundled into a broader analytics platform, which may not suit a focused ecommerce tracking need.
